From The Asheville Citizen-Times Newspaper (May 5, 2010) HENDERSONVILLE — Feed Your Faith’s “Love Worth Fighting For” tour, featuring actor, writer and evangelist Kirk Cameron and singer/songwriter Warren Barfield, will be at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, at Fifth Avenue West and Washington Street, at 2 p.m. June 13.
In 2009, this event was attended by nearly 9,000 people in Knoxville, Tenn., and tickets sold out almost six months early. Don’t wait if you wish to participate in this amazing, life-changing conference.
This event was designed for everyone, whether you have been married for 50 years or dating for 50 minutes. You will be worshiping and praising God, laughing hysterically as you see Cameron perform as “Mike Seaver” and hear Barfield explain “the pretzel.” Combine that with their unbelievable ability to share the plan God has for marriage and relationships, and you won’t want to miss one single minute of this unique event.
This event was designed to strengthen good marriages, heal broken marriages, and lay the groundwork for Biblical relationships that work according to God’s plan for each and every one of us regardless of our marital status.
Cameron starred in the runaway hit movie “Fireproof” last year. Following the success of his 1980s hit television show, “Growing Pains,” Cameron married actress Chelsea Noble and started a family. Today the father of six is an outspoken believer and has starred in the “Left Behind” movie series.
North Carolina-born singer/songwriter Warren Barfield is on a mission to make the truly important things important again in his life. Things like faith, love, marriage, children, truth, and with his songs, he challenges us all to do the same. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” Warren has found those things in his faith, his wife, and his belief in love. “These are the things I would die for, things I will wake up every morning and spend my day fighting for,” Barfield said.
For the past five years, Feed Your Faith has sponsored the best and brightest Christian speakers, authors and performing artists to “feed” the faithful while raising tens of thousands of dollars to feed those who are in need.
A few years ago, Mike Williams, a Blount County resident with a heart for people who are struggling, started Feed Your Faith. The Feed Your Faith concept was simple: bring in Christian speakers, authors, singers and music groups to help Christians grow in their faith and, at the same time, raise money for those who are less fortunate. Unlike some nonprofit and charity groups, Feed Your Faith has virtually no overhead expenses – so once the cost of bringing the event to town is covered, proceeds go directly to local charities.
To date, Feed Your Faith has worked with nationally known writers and music groups including Lee Strobel (former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and author of The Case for Christ), author Mark Middleberg, DecembeRadio, Decyfer Down and Sanctus Real (Dove Award winning Christian Rock and Alternative band), needtobreath and Sarah Reeves.
