Asheville Citizen-Times Covers Feed Your Faith’s Love Worth Fighting For Tour

Kirk Cameron

From The Asheville Citizen-Times Newspaper (May 5, 2010)   HENDERSONVILLE — Feed Your Faith’s “Love Worth Fighting For” tour, featuring actor, writer and evangelist Kirk Cameron and singer/songwriter Warren Barfield, will be at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, at Fifth Avenue West and Washington Street, at 2 p.m. June 13.

In 2009, this event was attended by nearly 9,000 people in Knoxville, Tenn., and tickets sold out almost six months early. Don’t wait if you wish to participate in this amazing, life-changing conference.

This event was designed for everyone, whether you have been married for 50 years or dating for 50 minutes. You will be worshiping and praising God, laughing hysterically as you see Cameron perform as “Mike Seaver” and hear Barfield explain “the pretzel.” Combine that with their unbelievable ability to share the plan God has for marriage and relationships, and you won’t want to miss one single minute of this unique event.

This event was designed to strengthen good marriages, heal broken marriages, and lay the groundwork for Biblical relationships that work according to God’s plan for each and every one of us regardless of our marital status.

Cameron starred in the runaway hit movie “Fireproof” last year. Following the success of his 1980s hit television show, “Growing Pains,” Cameron married actress Chelsea Noble and started a family. Today the father of six is an outspoken believer and has starred in the “Left Behind” movie series.

North Carolina-born singer/songwriter Warren Barfield is on a mission to make the truly important things important again in his life. Things like faith, love, marriage, children, truth, and with his songs, he challenges us all to do the same. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” Warren has found those things in his faith, his wife, and his belief in love. “These are the things I would die for, things I will wake up every morning and spend my day fighting for,” Barfield said.

For the past five years, Feed Your Faith has sponsored the best and brightest Christian speakers, authors and performing artists to “feed” the faithful while raising tens of thousands of dollars to feed those who are in need.

A few years ago, Mike Williams, a Blount County resident with a heart for people who are struggling, started Feed Your Faith. The Feed Your Faith concept was simple: bring in Christian speakers, authors, singers and music groups to help Christians grow in their faith and, at the same time, raise money for those who are less fortunate. Unlike some nonprofit and charity groups, Feed Your Faith has virtually no overhead expenses – so once the cost of bringing the event to town is covered, proceeds go directly to local charities.

To date, Feed Your Faith has worked with nationally known writers and music groups including Lee Strobel (former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and author of The Case for Christ), author Mark Middleberg, DecembeRadio, Decyfer Down and Sanctus Real (Dove Award winning Christian Rock and Alternative band), needtobreath and Sarah Reeves.

For more information, call 1-800-965-9324. Doors open one hour prior to the event. To order your tickets or for more information, visit www.FeedYourFaith.org

Stars of runaway hit movie FIREPROOF – Kirk Cameron and singer-songwriter Warren Barfield – LIVE in Atlanta with Feed Your Faith’s LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR Tour 2010

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 13, 2010) — Feed Your Faith, a nonprofit group based in Knoxville, Tenn. that brings Christian speakers, authors and performing artists to raise money for those in need, has announced its LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour will be in Atlanta, Georgia on

Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield

This event has two sessions to choose from – an afternoon matinee session beginning at 1 p.m. and an evening session beginning at 7 p.m.  In 2009, this event was attended by nearly 9,000 people in Knoxville, Tennessee and tickets sold out almost six months early.  In March 2010, the LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR TOUR 2010 kicked off in Lexington, Kentucky.  Don’t wait if you wish to participate in this amazing, life-changing conference.

KIRK CAMERON

In addition to starring in the runaway 2009 hit FIREPROOF, Kirk Cameron is also known as the lovable teen heartthrob Mike Seaver, of the award winning television series Growing Pains. He entertained audiences worldwide as the charming troublemaker. He is also known to many Christians as “Buck Williams” from the Left Behind films — based on the NY Times runaway best-selling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.

Kirk Cameron

But much more noteworthy than his acting career was his conversion to Christianity. Kirk was not raised in a church-going home and describes himself as a devout atheist from a very young age. By the age of 14 he was so convinced there was no God that he laughed at those who thought there was. But that all changed one afternoon as he sat in his sports car pondering the first Gospel message he had ever heard.

Kirk continues to be actively involved in quality family entertainment and travels throughout the country making the most of every opportunity to further the Gospel. He is an outspoken believer who speaks from his heart as God leads him in schools, churches and at community events. He is also a producer and host of The Way of the Master television series and radio program.  This year, he and singer Warren Barfield will tour the country with Feed Your Faith’s LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR TOUR 2010.

Kirk and his wife Chelsea have six children and live in southern California.

WARREN BARFIELD

North Carolina-born singer/songwriter Warren Barfield is on a mission to make the truly important things important again in his life. Things like faith, love, marriage, children, truth, and with his songs, he challenges us all to do the same. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” Warren has found those things in his faith, his wife, and his belief in love. “These are the things I would die for; things I will wake up every morning and spend my day fighting for.”

Warren Barfield

Worth Fighting For, Barfield’s third record, out May 20, 2008 on Essential Records, expresses a vulnerability and passion born out of the realization of how much life passes by without intentionally living, how little we invest in those we love, and how often we settle for the status quo.

“My wife is my best friend, who I love dearly, and she loves me,” he says. “But isn’t it fascinating that two people who love each other so much can cut one another so deeply? When you let issues build up in a marriage, the smallest thing can trigger a war, and pretty soon you can lose sight of your love and commitment to one another. We had a night where something as trivial as spilled pretzels forced into the open things we had left unsaid. Once everything had calmed down, I wrote this song. In that moment, I fully realized my duty, as my wife’s husband, was to wrap my arms around her, to love her more than my pride, more than my desire to be ‘right,’ and to find a way to move through life’s good and bad times together. That will be a struggle at times, but love is worth the fight.”

For those who have lost or feel they’re losing the battle in relationships and in life, the poignant ballad “Drop The World” is a prayer for comfort and healing. “We’ve been taught our whole lives that God holds the whole world in His hands,” Barfield explains. “There’s an epidemic of brokenness in our world, people hurting so much, they need someone to drop everything and hold them. My heart is broken for people whose marriages have ended, people who’ve lost people they love, and I believe Christ is broken for them. He knows our deepest secrets and loves us anyway. We don’t have to hide our pain from Him.”

Without an ounce of judgment, Worth Fighting For strikes a delicate balance between hope and hurting, between love and loss, infused with a heavy dose of encouragement and grace. Songs like “God Believes In You,” “The One Thing” and “Say It With Your Life” reinforce Barfield’s confidence in God’s passion for His children. “We can run away from our problems, our fears; we can run out of money, run out of hope, but the one thing I can’t run out of is God’s love,” Barfield says of “The One Thing.” “He’s always there watching, waiting for us to let Him love us. When everyone and everything runs away, God is running to us.”

These are the lessons that cannot be imparted by parents or college professors. These are truths learned in the trenches, carved out on the journey, forged in fires of failure and forgiveness. Truths only time and experience can teach.  Barfield’s “Love is not a Fight” song was a hit single last year as part of the Fireproof movie (starring Kirk Cameron).
